Welcome to the New Runner’s Kitchen!

Hooray! You made it to the new blog address. Thanks for stopping by!

Runner’s Kitchen now has a new easier to remember URL (simply –http://runnerskitchen.com) and I plan on making some style and formatting changes over the next few weeks. I want to give a big THANK YOU to Matt and all of his helpful advice at the blog, Health Blog Helper. I’ve been contemplating buying my own domain name and self-hosting the blog for awhile now, but Matt gave me the extra push I needed. If you have a blog with wordpress or blogger, I strongly recommend that you look into self-hosting as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more complicated it gets!

I’m excited about allΒ the flexibility the new format will allow me, but please bear with me over the next week or so as I figure this all out. I was up to my eyeballs in HTML code last night – something I don’t feel quite comfortable with yet! So if you see anything that looks weird or a page isn’t working for you, please let me know.

I think I’ll be in the office pretty late tonight, so in lieu of a regular post you can check out my latest Running Shorts article on True/Slant – Tips for fitting running into a crazy-busy schedule. Am I taking my own advice? Let’s hope so…

Oh! And remember to update your bookmarks and google readers – there’s a subscribe button in the top right corner of the page that will help you sign up. If you use google reader – remember that www.runnerskitchen.com is the new URL to subscribe to. You wouldn’t want to miss any important updates, would you?

  • Congrats on the move! Isn’t it great to have your own domain?

  • Yay! congrats girl on self hosting! πŸ™‚ updating my reader right now!

  • Congrats on the new site. It looks great!

  • Congrats on the domain ownership! Climbing the ladders of the blog-world is quite awesome.

  • Julie

    looks great Megan! πŸ™‚

  • Congrats on the new website! It looks amazing! πŸ™‚

  • hooooray for the new domain! i added it to my reader, you know it!

  • Thanks for visiting the new site and adding me to your google readers!

  • You’re rolling!!

  • Your new site looks great! It was definitely a lot harder to start my blog self hosted rather than at wordpress or blogger, but I had heard all of the horror stories around the blog community about switching and I didn’t want to have to do that! Now, after a few months, I’m so happy with my decision!!

  • Congratulations Megan! It looks really really cool – love it!

  • darien

woohoo! love the new site πŸ™‚

  • So exciting! It’s about time! I love it!

  • Congratulations! You are really making me consider the self-hosting thing now. I have my own domain, but host on WordPress and am nervous that down the road if I want to switch it will be difficult. With self-hosting, do you still log-in to WordPress at all to post or through your host’s area? I’d love to talk with you about it.

  • CONGRATS! Love the new change!

  • Great new site!! Love the picture of course ;).
Why does it get more complicated the longer you wait ..more material?? Is it expensive? What would be the downfall??

So jealous of your T/S writing…please somebody hire me!!!! πŸ˜‰

  • Lindsey – If you decided to self-host and install the wordpress software (the most popular option), the way that you blog will be almost identical. It’s definitely not as scary as I thought! Check out http://www.healthbloghelper.com for more info on self-hosting πŸ™‚

Jenn – one of the biggest downfalls of waiting to self-host is that all of your readers (and search engines) have to get used to the new domain name. Plus transferring all of the data can be a little tricky!
