Raw Food, Detoxes, and Wheatgrass

Question: Have you ever done a cleanse or detox diet? Would you consider it?

  • Great article! Personally, I wouldn’t do a cleanse diet. I think you should want your body to be fueled and clean with what you regularly eat.

    I have not tried detoxes or cleanses, and am rather wary of them. I agree with Evan’s comment above. Also, I just don’t see how they’re necessary if you lead a (mostly) healthy, active lifestyle and intake wholesome foods. I’ve known people that have gone on the raw diet and tried master cleanses, and quite frankly, while on those extreme fad diets/detoxes…they went temporarily nuts. It really shocks the system, and should probably only be done under the guidance of a medical professional. Like, a real medical professional…if you know what I mean.

  • I have never and would never go on a detox diet. The body is a pretty amazing thing and in most cases does a perfectly good job of cleansing itself. Besides, most detox diets require restricting calories to such an unhealthy number the body goes into starvation mode- talk about getting hangry!

    I’m in love with the raw food diet. I like moderation though and so I’m not 100% raw. I have energy, good bodily function and mental clarity.

    I’m not a huge fan of detox cleanses because I think your diet should be clean enough that you don’t need it….I mean, what’s the point of cleansing if you’re just going to go back to junk food?

  • I did a colon cleanse a few years ago. It was a 90 day cleanse and let me tell you…there was some nasty stuff coming out of my little body! It just showed me that no matter how clean you try to eat there is still some residual side effects from our “modern” diets!
