No recap from Monday (lots of driving back to the city, lots of traffic), but I did have a lovely 6 mile run at 9:05/mile pace. Slower than I used to run, but I was super happy considering the circumstances. I finally feel like my IT band/hamstring problems (going on 9 months now…) might be starting to subside. Fingers crossed…
I’m not sure why I scheduled a dentist appointment for 8:30am on the day after a long weekend, but I did. Although I didn’t sleep that well last night (what is up with me lately?), a cup of coffee and a banana made me feel slightly more alert.

I subway-ed it downtown to my dentist’s office. An hour later, the dentist announced that my teeth and gums were in perfect health. Yay! When I was younger I always had this irrational fear of cavities. Whenever it was time to go to the dentist, I would convince myself that I was going to have to get my teeth drilled. I even remember a few crying fits. Oh 8-year-old Megan…Anyway, my fears always proved to be baseless. I guess I was just a weird kid.
Once I got to the office I was a pretty hungry lady. I devoured the remains of a Stonyfield Oikos greek yogurt tub and some delicious Nature’s Path Pumpkin Spice Granola. This granola is like crack. It’s nearly impossible to stick to a 3/4 cup serving size. Um, let’s double that.
After a morning of work (why is it SO hard to go back after a long weekend?), I made a quick visit to my gym during the lunch hour. 30 minutes on the elliptical and a shower later, I was back at my desk and ready for lunch.
I was lucky enough to squirrel away the leftover grilled veggies and roasted ranch potatoes from the cookout my fam had on Sunday. I topped some mixed greens with the leftovers and then added feta, chopped egg, whole grain croutons, and balsamic vinaigrette from the cafe. This was the perfect way to use up leftovers AND get fun extras from the office salad bar. Yay! I’m not sure my tupperware does this pile ‘o veggies justice – this salad ”bowl” probably weighed 2 lbs…
All of that fiber filled me up, so I wasn’t super hungry for an afternoon snack. However, I knew I was going to be in the office late (~8pm), so I snagged a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks around 4:30pm. I ordered a tall, non-fat pumpkin spice latte with one less pump than usual. Two pumps of syrup (vs 3) is the perfect amount to me – just sweet enough!
After finishing up a long day, but productive day at work, I headed home. I was tired and wanted to watch my new Gossip Girl DVD ASAP, so dinner was a quick tasting plate: leftover guacamole, Kashi crackers, sliced apple, 2 Tbs peanut butter. The Kashi crackers reminded me of triscuits, but not as good. Bleh. I think they need more salt.
Finally, finally I settled down to enjoy some Gossip Girl season 2 (thank goodness for Netflix) and half a slice of dark chocolate-peanut butter cake. This yummy dessert was featured in the cafeteria today and since it’s so decadent I split it up into two pieces. Can’t wait to finish the rest tomorrow!
Question: Do you have a can’t-miss TV show? I’m a HUGE Gossip Girl fan and I’m also excited to start watching Glee (season 1 begins tonight at 9pm!)
